What to send
- Your sale contract or lease agreement
- Every repair order — including the visits where the dealer found nothing wrong. Those count too.
If you do not have all of it, send what you have. Dealerships are required to give you a copy of each repair order, and we can often help you get the ones you are missing.

What We Are Looking For
Three things tell us most of what we need to know early on:
- What the problem is, in your own words — the symptom, not a diagnosis. You do not have to know what is wrong with the vehicle.
- How many times it has been in for that same problem.
- How long the vehicle has been out of service, counting every day it sat at the dealership.
Do not worry about whether those numbers are “enough.” That is the part we work out, and it depends on the vehicle, the defect and the repair history.
